Comedy Shorts Courtesy of Eric Appel

Eric Appel, one of our favorite young filmmakers, will be screening a few of his awesome comedic short films tomorrow night at Super Serious. Appel’s a skilled writer and director with a keen eye for the absurd and funny. His absurd style is always laced with in-your-face funny.

Hailing from Endicott, New York, Appel graduated from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh before moving to New York City to begin his comedy career. While in New York, Appel studied and performed regularly at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre. Appel is an accomplished comedy writer with numerous credits, including Crank Yankers, The Andy Milonakis Show, Human Giant and Nick Swardson’s Pretend Time. He’s also an accomplished director working on some of the coolest recent comedy projects. Some of his directing effects include Funny Or Die Presents, Eagleheart and the upcoming Adult Swim action comedy, NTSF:SD:SUV. Eric Appel is a regular contributor to Funny Or Die and still performs often at Upright Citizen Brigade Theatre Los Angeles.

Punch It With Paul Scheer

Paul Scheer will be appearing in this month’s Super Serious Show! June 16th! Scheer is most recognized for his role on MTV’s sketch comedy series Human Giant, which he co-created and starred in alongside Aziz Ansari and Rob Huebel. Over the past few years, Scheer has made guest appearances on a number of hit comedy shows including Childrens’ Hospital, Party Down, Parks and Recreation, Reno 911! and 30 Rock. His movie credits include Piranha, Year One, Bride Wars and School for Scoundrels. Scheer currently stars in the FX show, The League, which follows six friends and their very serious Fantasy Football League. Scheer plays Andre, flashy plastic surgeon, who is often the butt of his friends’ jokes.

You can catch Scheer performing at UCB Theatre in shows such as Facebook and Crash Test or hear him on the bi-weekly podcast, How Did This Get Made?, on the Earwolf network. Also, look out for Scheer’s upcoming Adult Swim comedy action series National Terrorism Strike Force: San Diego: Sport Utility Vehicle or NTSF:SD:SUV, which is set to air this summer. Scheer truly does it all, but most importantly, his silly and engaging humor will leave you laughing and loving him as much as we do.
