Raised in New Hampshire, Silverman moved to New York to attend New York University. In 1993 she joined Saturday Night Live as a writer and featured performer. In 2004 Silverman released her first feature-length concert film, Sarah Silverman: Jesus Is Magic.
She headed three seasons of the off-beat and irreverant comedy series, The Sarah Silverman Program, for Comedy Central. The show garned several nominations and awards, including an Emmy nomination for Silverman for acting. Her film credits include, The Aristocrats, School of Rock, There's Something About Mary among many more. She stars in the upcoming release, Peep World. Her television credits include an Emmy nominated appearance on Monk, The Larry Sanders Show, Seinfeld and Mr. Show with Bob and David.
In 2010, she released a memoir, The Bedwetter: Stories of Courage, Redemption and Pee. Silverman has also shown great hosting skills, with stints as the host for the MTV Movie Awards and the Independent Spirit Awards.
